As soon as school is back in session, it seems as though children magically appear everywhere in this city. Where were they hiding before? Camp?Cottages? In basem*nts playing video games? I have no idea, but now it seems as the city is flooded with little kidless. All whom are very eager to come and pat Chickpea- much to Chickpea's horror. (She is still pretty shy). We're working on that.
In celebration of all the youngins, I wanted to collect some inspiring lunchrecipes, because peanut butter and jelly is cool and all, but we can do better than that. So I asked my blogger friends for their favourite vegan lunchbox recipes, and here they are. Tah dah!
Acollection of 25 Vegan Lunchbox recipes that are perfect for back to school...But also pretty perfect for back to work if I do say so myself -I'm looking at you peanut noodle salad!

These recipes look delicious! However a lot of them contain nuts or peanut butter which is forbidden in schools. Could you do a post of vegan lunch ideas that are nut free as well?
Reply
Sam Turnbull says
Hi Akiko! That's a great idea. You can search my recipesfor lunch ideas. You could also substitute sun butter (made from sunflower seeds), wow butter, or another similar product.

Sorry you didn't like my post, Caroline, but keep in mind this is just a free list I put together. I'm not a parent, and peanut butter was totally acceptable when I went to school so I didn't know! I didn't want to modify the post because I don't want to delete the links to my friend's sites, that's not a nice move.

For the peanut butter recipe would it work to replace it with a nutbutter or sunbutter?

Not all of these recipes are mine, but I imagine that it should work just fine. Enjoy!

This post couldn't have come at a better time. I've been running out of ideas for my picky eater. He also gets bored easily with food, so I have to switch it up a lot. He looked at this post with me and has already picked out some favorites. The chocolate chip cookies were his first request. I told him we would make them together this weekend. Thank you for including some of my recipes. 🙂

Sam, these all look wonderful, but I have to wonder about the inclusion of so many recipes with peanut butter and nuts. Kids can't bring anything with any nuts to school.
Reply
Sam Turnbull says
Ah yes... Can you tell I don't have kids? Haha. Back in my day, or at least in my middle of nowhere country school, nuts were a-ok, so I didn't even think of that. Looks like lunchbox collection round two will be in order soon! 🙂
